Where designation reaches exterior finishes
Painting is the trade where local historic designation is most likely to reach an ordinary maintenance decision. On a designated property, changes visible from the street can be reviewable, and that can extend to material and finish on trim, porches and siding. Undesignated properties nearby may face none of it, which is why the answer is parcel-specific rather than neighborhood-specific.

A citywide designation list does not tell you your parcel's status, and neighborhood appearance is a poor guide. Confirm it with the city, and confirm what is under the existing coating with whoever is preparing the surface, before any product is ordered.
